Residencies for Parents! Woohoo!

Apr 5, 2013

The Sustainable Arts Foundations supports writers and artists with families.

"The Sustainable Arts Foundation is a non-profit foundation supporting artists and writers with families. Our mission is to provide financial awards to parents pursuing creative work."
They offer generouns individual artist's grants in the amount of $6000. I'm incredibly grateful that they exist.

"Too often, creative impulses are set aside to meet the wonderful, but pressing, demands of raising a family. The foundation's goal is to encourage parents to continue pursuing their creative passion, and to rekindle it in those who may have let it slide."

One of the things I've been longing to do is a residency. But I can't. I can't leave my kids and residencies don't include kids. They've started a pilot program to assist with that too! I couldn't be more thrilled!
"For many parents, the financial, emotional, and logistical demands of raising a family make attending a traditional artist/writer residency program impossible. We are launching a two-year pilot program to support residencies interested in making their programs more accessible to parent artists and writers."

Below is the list of recent residency grant recipients.

Here is where parents can apply for a residency. Go forth and apply!
