Residencies for Parents! Woohoo!
Apr 5, 2013
The Sustainable Arts Foundations supports writers and artists with families.
- "The Sustainable Arts Foundation is a non-profit foundation supporting artists and writers with families. Our mission is to provide financial awards to parents pursuing creative work."
- They offer generouns individual artist's grants in the amount of $6000. I'm incredibly grateful that they exist.
"Too often, creative impulses are set aside to meet the wonderful, but pressing, demands of raising a family. The foundation's goal is to encourage parents to continue pursuing their creative passion, and to rekindle it in those who may have let it slide."
[my kids at one of my exhibits]
- One of the things I've been longing to do is a residency. But I can't. I can't leave my kids and residencies don't include kids. They've started a pilot program to assist with that too! I couldn't be more thrilled!
- "For many parents, the financial, emotional, and logistical demands of raising a family make attending a traditional artist/writer residency program impossible. We are launching a two-year pilot program to support residencies interested in making their programs more accessible to parent artists and writers."
Below is the list of recent residency grant recipients.
